Customers Need to Adapt Website Content Strategy for Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) Visibility

Welcome to this Cloud Wars Agent and Copilot Update. In these discussions, I’ll be analyzing opportunities, impact, and outcomes possible with AI. Today’s focus is on Answer Engine Optimization, or AEO.

Highlights

00:38 — Marketers and business leaders need to understand how to get found in various AI tools including Copilot, Gemini, and ChatGPT. The goal is to drive leads and traffic while improving lead generation and customer connection.

01:07 — When attending conferences, I get a common question about how to measure AEO’s impact. AEO differs from search engine optimization (SEO), with different data signals and a more fragmented approach. It’s important to get SEO right, as AEO relies heavily on search engines for information. It’s important to have good content on the website and answer technical questions effectively.

02:13 — I recommend starting with a clear baseline to establish what questions the audience is asking, as well as looking at content popularity on the website and current traffic and engagement levels.

02:51 — Customers should check for mentions in answer engines like ChatGPT, Copilot, and Perplexity, as well as Google’s AEO overviews. They should also monitor changes in question visibility to understand if the changes that were executed are working. It’s important to be selected as the best answer in response to questions in answer engines.

03:55 — Customers need to include help guides and product information in the website structure for answer engines to find. It’s also required to measure engagement shifts on the website to understand how people are interacting with the content.
