Welcome to this Cloud Wars Agent and Copilot Update. In these discussions, I’ll be analyzing opportunities, impact, and outcomes possible with AI. Today’s focus is on AI agents on websites and the evolution from Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to Answer Engine Optimization (AEO). If you’d like to review, check out Part 1 on this topic.

Highlights

01:31 — Over the past two years, website AI agents have moving from traditional chatbots to digital teammates; they greet visitors, answer questions, book demos, and can even close sales, enhancing the user experience. Choosing the right AI agent for these functions requires defining the organization’s goals. There are agents for customer service, sales, and lead generation, with a focus on sales and marketing tools.

02:13 — Selecting the optimal AI agent starts with the need to connect to data sources like help centers and ticketing systems. For sales and lead generation, the agent should qualify prospects, schedule meetings, and track questions, integrating with marketing automation and CRM systems. In e-commerce, the agent should recommend products, enhancing the customer experience. My company, Marketing Copilot, has tested various tools while focusing on integration, customization, and ease of use.

04:23 — Measuring the success of AI agents is complex due to the lack of good tracking tools in the market. For businesses with low website traffic, AI agents may not add significant value. There’s a need for a high volume of users to see improvements in answering questions and generating revenue. Agents carry a high cost and it’s difficult to achieve positive ROI in smaller organizations.

05:49 — At Marketing Copilot, we’re striving for continuous improvement including testing and refining the AI agent’s prompts and content library. Despite challenges, we’re not giving up and will explore other tools to enhance the buyer journey.
