Altman Plants is the largest horticultural grower in North America, producing and distributing over 150 million plants annually to thousands of big-box retailers. With a workforce that is largely mobile, operating in fields, delivery trucks, and garden centers, managing a living product at this scale is complex—plants have a short shelf life and demand shifts quickly.
To meet this challenge, our IT team partnered with executive leadership to align business process changes with enabling technology. We enhanced our custom MRP system for greater accuracy and granularity, built a Fabric/Power BI analytics platform that underpins all major company objectives, exposed supply chain data to retail partners, and integrated machine learning models to optimize store-level inventory. By transforming our proprietary, large-scale, complex, vertically-integrated operation into a competitive advantage, Altman Plants reduced waste by $12M annually and increased sell-through by 4%.
