Microsoft initially launched Microsoft 365 Business with Copilot in late 2025. Now, the company is building on this offering for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) by streamlining AI integration with a series of new SKUs that feature built-in Copilot, aligning with its broader push to make AI a critical component of its productivity tools, rather than an optional add-on.
Set to be released on July 1, the new offerings include Microsoft 365 Business Standard with Copilot and Microsoft 365 Business Premium with Copilot. These bundles are designed to fit seamlessly into the way small businesses already operate, reducing the burden on IT teams that often juggle licensing decisions across multiple AI systems.
“With Microsoft 365 Business, you work with the same world-class tools that hundreds of users around the globe rely on every day — such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook,” said Nicole Herskowitz, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft 365 and Copilot. “Since Copilot is integrated directly into these applications, it fundamentally transforms how work is accomplished.” This integration also ensures that AI outputs are grounded in existing organizational data and workflows.

Solid, Transparent Offerings
Ultimately, before the upcoming July 1 release, Copilot for SMBs was a separate add-on license and not integrated into the SKUs we see now. As Herskowitz says, “On July 1, Microsoft 365 Business Standard with Copilot and Microsoft 365 Business Premium with Copilot bring everything together — your apps, your AI, and your security — in one place, working as one. Not more to manage. Just more getting done.”
Here’s the price points:
- Microsoft 365 Business Standard with Copilot: $23.50/user/month — 1–300 seats, annual subscription with annual billing.
- Microsoft 365 Business Premium with Copilot: $32/user/month — 1–300 seats, annual subscription with annual billing.
This offer is in line with previous promotional bundles. For Business Basic customers — Microsoft’s entry-level business subscription — there is a new promotion offering 25% off Microsoft 365 Business Basic along with Microsoft 365 Copilot Business. The price is $21 per user per month for 1 to 300 seats, with an annual commitment and annual billing, and customers can take advantage of this offer until December 31, 2026. This incentive aims to encourage early adoption among Microsoft’s lower-tier small and medium-sized (SMB) customers.
Customer Impact
SMBs often don’t have the budgets, large IT teams, or flexibility for experimentation that Microsoft’s enterprise clients enjoy. That’s why solutions that enable easy and effective AI adoption are so important. By bundling Microsoft 365 plans with Copilot, the process for small business owners to purchase, manage, and adopt Microsoft’s AI offerings becomes significantly simpler. And, it enables companies that may not be as technically advanced to start deploying AI on a larger scale.
The previous system of add-ons was great for testing initial interest and assessing uptake. However, this permanent solution is a significant advancement in lowering the barriers to AI adoption by integrating Copilot into the workplace. It also strengthens the Microsoft’s position in an critical niche, separate from its established consumer and enterprise customers, an important focus in this increasingly competitive AI battleground.
