Microsoft has published its 2026 release wave 1 plans for Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Power Platform, and Microsoft 365 Copilot. In this article, I’ll run through all the latest developments with Copilot, Copilot Studio, and Microsoft’s agentic infrastructure, across these products, so you can better prepare for the upcoming updates to align with your (evolving) agentic AI strategy.
Dynamics 365
Microsoft is introducing agentic experiences and deeper Copilot integration across Dynamics 365 for sales, service, finance, supply chain, commerce, HR, projects, sustainability, and ERP. Dynamics 365 Sales customers can now leverage Copilot to tap data via CRM and Microsoft 365 sources such as email and meeting summaries, empowering users to work more efficiently.
Microsoft is bringing more agentic capabilities to Dynamics 365 Customer Service too, including AI-driven admin and supervisor assistance to help users escalate time to value. At the same time, Dynamics 365 Contact Center will also benefit from new AI-powered capabilities, such as enhanced self-service.
Dynamics 365 Field Service improved mobile usability and reliability, and the introduction of the Scheduling Operations Agent aims to deliver more consistent, dependable outcomes for operative. While in Dynamics 365 Finance, enhancements introduce greater automation to financial processes, while warehouse operatives using Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management can benefit from AI-powered picking, stock rebalancing, and hands-free scanning.
New cross-app capabilities in finance and operations include improvements to Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and the introduction of the AI-powered workspace Immersive Home, an adaptive landing page for agent management and workflow monitoring. And agent enhancements in Dynamics 365 Business Central aim to “accelerates the move to agentic ERP.”
Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft Copilot Studio
In Power Apps, users can take advantage of expanded AI features, including greater availability and greater flexibility for creating generative pages. Additionally, Power Pages now offers enhanced AI tooling and security agents, making it easier for users to secure their sites.
The latest updates to Power Automate introduce various agent-based features for authoring, optimization, and self-healing, which can be applied to desktop flows and Copilot Studio-driven actions in cloud flows. Beyond this, Microsoft Copilot Studio has added new capabilities for customizing agents built with the Agent Builder in Microsoft 365 Copilot. This includes advanced governance, multi-agent orchestration, and evaluation features.
Microsoft Power Platform governance and administration will now include admin controls for agent security, real-time risk assessment in Copilot Studio, and AI-powered governance agents that automate tenant monitoring and remediation.
Role-Based Agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot
Finally, Microsoft is giving its role-based agents a boost. The company hopes to transform Sales Agent into “the seller’s daily command center” by introducing a richer Sales Chat and Sales Home experience. As well as new governance and extensibility controls, sellers using Sales Agent will benefit from simplified access to deal and account data via configurable record summaries, Outlook and Teams support with contextual insights, and better email and meeting knowledge.
Microsoft is also expanding how its Finance Agentcan support users with everyday tasks like reconciliation, variance analysis, preparing data in Excel, and customer comms via in Outlook.
