Welcome to this Cloud Wars Agent and Copilot Minute. In these discussions, I’ll be analyzing opportunities, impact, and outcomes possible with AI; today’s focus is how AI enables you to change not only the speed at which things done, but the initiatives you’ll take on.
Highlights
00:24 — Most IT time is spent fixing and patching broken processes and following up on things that shouldn’t need follow up, rather than building new systems. There are many common tasks that should be automated but are not due to the high cost and complexity of proper solutions.
01:35 — AI shifts the focus from whether a project is worth pursuing to why it hasn’t been fixed yet, and encourages leaders to think differently about system building. We had a predictive quality project, the kind of thing where you’d normally bring in an outside firm run it as a major initiative, that we decided not to pursue because the ROI just wasn’t there. With the tools we have now, it’s back on the table.
02:31 — With AI, you can get really fast at fixing things — staying in the weeds — or you can start building systems that don’t require you in the first place. AI makes us faster, but what it really changed is what’s worth fixing at all.
