Welcome to this Cloud Wars Agent and Copilot Update. In these discussions, I’ll be analyzing opportunities, impact, and outcomes possible with AI. In this episode, I address the importance of corporate AI policies.

Highlights

0:18 — Companies already publish privacy, cookie, and accessibility policies; AI policies are now similarly necessary. Software and go-to-market vendor Clay provides a strong AI policy example requiring human review of AI-assisted content.

2:03 — Microsoft partners and customers use AI and Copilot used to summarize customer meetings and generate emails. AI supports marketing, HR, customer service, business processes, and technical development. With all this AI-powered activity taking place, customers increasingly wonder and question whether communications, statistics, and research were reviewed by people.

3:20 — Website policies should explain how AI is used, where human oversight occurs, whether content is reviewed before publication or delivery, how confidential customer information is protected, and where AI will or will not be used. Internal policies must identify who is accountable for AI-generated output. Responsibility remains with the organization, even when AI produces an inaccurate customer fact or other error. Companies should publish AI policies for current customers and future prospects to build trust in the channel.
