Welcome to this Cloud Wars Agent and Copilot Update. In these discussions, I’ll be analyzing opportunities, impact, and outcomes possible with AI; today’s focus is selecting the optimal AI tool for the job at hand.
Highlights
00:32 — I’ve been working with Claude Code to build software faster and capitalize on its ability to transform ideas into usable prototypes and products. I expect Microsoft Copilot to remain important in the enterprise due to its governance, safety, and integration with the Microsoft ecosystem. Yet there’s value in using different tools including Claude Code and Google Gemini; the real win lies in using the right tool for the right kind of work.
01:42 — I used Claude Code to build an MCP server for my home irrigation system, enabling natural language interaction with the system. My professionl use of Claude Code involves helping to inspect and reason about SQL Server health, technical issues, and data architecture.
02:30 — I now think of AI not just as a tool for writing code but as a practical interface to systems, automation, infrastructure, and data. There’s transformative impact in starting technical work from intent, allowing users to ask questions or describe outcomes in English and use AI to bridge the gap between intention and execution.
06:00 — The future isn’t limited to one AI tool or faster coding but involves learning how to use AI as a practical interface to complexity.
