Welcome to this Cloud Wars Agent and Copilot Minute. In these discussions, I’ll be analyzing opportunities, impact, and outcomes possible with AI; today I’m analyzing how reusable AI skills can capture departmental expertise and standardize how work is produced across Microsoft 365.
Highlights
00:15 — A skill is a reusable set of instructions for a specific job, such as generating a weekly summary in a team’s exact format. In Microsoft 365 Copilot, users can create, upload, and select skills in Copilot Chat; responses show which skills shaped them. In Teams and Outlook, users can invoke a skill by typing @. PowerPoint admins can publish approved skills to specific users, groups, or the organization.
01:04 — Legal skills are generally available in Word and CoWork, with partner plugins rolling out over time. An Excel Skill Builder began its general availability rollout this month. The central opportunity is to capture expertise that may otherwise reside with individual senior employees and share and improve it as a company asset.
