Welcome to this Cloud Wars Agent and Copilot Minute. In these discussions, I’ll be analyzing opportunities, impact, and outcomes possible with AI; today’s focus is physical AI.
Highlights
00:15 — The concept of physical AI dominated the recent Consumer Electronics show. It goes further than AI that produces text, images or descriptions; it combines AI, perception, reasoning, and physical actions into a unified system.
00:53 — These machines use data from their ability to see, hear, move, and manipulate objects, coupled with a large language model, to reason and process the real world. Major tech players showcased physical AI systems ranging from advanced humanoid robots and autonomous platforms to sensor-driven intelligent edge devices.
01:22 — Lenovo, Nvidia, Google and others showed AI-powered robotics and devices that illustrate the transition from pure software models toward AI enabled machines with real world mobility and interaction.
01:34 — Decisions in the physical world require continuity, safety, real-time responses and robustness. These are things that pure software AI does not normally contend with. For businesses, this means new automation categories where software and robots collaborate, and AI systems that can execute real-world tasks, not just suggest them.
02:15 — Microsoft has its hat in the ring: a partnership with Hexagon Robotics, whereby Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure is being used to scale humanoid and industrial robotics for real factories. If AI cannot only think but act, how will that redefine what agents and copilots actually do for your business in the real world?
